Uploading Unposted JE — and how it differs from Unposted AP
Unposted JE and Unposted AP sound alike but come from completely different places, and only one of them is something you upload.
Unposted JE: an Excel upload, every period
- On the Import tab, choose an Unposted JE export (.xlsx) and upload it — there's no automatic source for this one.
- LOOP finds the right columns by their headers (a GL Account column, plus either an Amount column or Debit/Credit columns), not by fixed cell positions, so it doesn't matter exactly where those columns sit on the sheet. If the workbook has a sheet named "UnP Dump," LOOP uses that one; otherwise it uses the first sheet.
- If the sheet happens to have two copies of a column (a working copy and a raw copy), LOOP uses the right-hand one.
- If LOOP can't find a recognizable GL Account column together with an Amount or Debit/Credit column, the import fails and tells you so.
- Once loaded, lines whose company + account match an IC Review pairing flow automatically into that pairing's Unposted JE column; everything else is flagged "no match" on the Unposted JE tab itself, just for visibility.
Unposted AP: pulled from SQL, not uploaded
Unposted AP is invoice-approval distribution detail pulled live from SQL on the Import tab (the "Refresh Unposted AP from SQL" button) — there's no file to prepare. It flags invoices whose distribution lines hit an IC Review account.
Don't mix them up
If you're looking for where to drop an Excel file, it's Unposted JE. Unposted AP refreshes itself from SQL and has no upload option at all.
